Back in those days J Have you ever heard that before? Well I have and have tried not to use the statement to make a point with the younger generation. However………….
It was sometime back in the '50s that it was unpopular to kill things or other people, either on purpose or by accident. Now that's a profound statement, huh. (What do you say, keep that thought)
Concerned with misguided missiles from a one's 22 caliber hunting rifle, an idea for a safe bullet head for hunters to use, not endangering other life or property when missing it's target. It was made of a plastic. While guaranteed to bring down your prey, it would also disintegrate before ricocheting to another receiver if your target was missed.
Armed with a supply of the new ammo to rid the barn and corn crib of disease carrying fowl and roof destroying starlings, off I went. (Starlings were only trying to find and dislodge insects from the wood roofing shingles.)
One day a month or two later, Dad made a comment at the dinner table: "I see where we are no longer plagued with those destructive birds anymore, but not before they picked all those holes through the cedar shingles.
Ooooops, where did they come from?
Found to be only half correct in the guarantee, the manufacturer soon removed the ammo from the market.
