It was in "those years", in northern Minnesota, lived a fair maiden whose name was Helga.  Helga worked as a waitress in the local café.

Also, nearby lived a young man whose name was Ole, who worked as a farm hand.  He liked the food at the local café but also liked the physical appearance of Helga.

One day as Ole sat in the café, he asked: "Helga, vood cho marry me?"
"Vell Ole", Helga responded "do you haf a milyun dollars?"
"Vell Helga, no I do not haf a milyun dollars."
"Vell den Ole, I have alvays sait dat I could not marry a man vithout a milyun dollars".

Ole, downhearted, left and went back to the farm, saving his money.  He returned to the café the next year, and after seeing Helga, he asked:
"Helga, vood cho marry me?"
Of course Helga responded to him:
"Vell Ole", "do you haf a milyun dollars?, only to receive this answer:
"Vell Helga, no I do not haf a milyun dollars." And her reply was:
"Vell den Ole, cho know I have alvays sait dat I could not marry a man vithout a milyun dollars", so I coot not marry chu".

Again, Ole leaves with his heart in his hands, his back to the wind and face to the cows for another year.

This went on for many years, ………..  each visit with the same results.

This year, Ole knew what the answer out of tradition would be …… but presented the question again…….. after all, neither of them were getting any younger:

"Helga, vood cho marry me?"
Of course Helga responded to him:
"Vell Ole", "do you haf a milyun dollars?, ………. only to receive this answer:
"Vell Helga, no….  I do not haf a milyun dollars." And her reply was:
"Vell Ole, how much do ya haf?"
Ole looked through his pockets and counted his money:
"Turteen dollors and 42 cents was his rely".
And Helga responded, "Vell Ole, das close enuf!"

So ends another love story.  :)
