November 2003 finds us vacationing on the warm and wonderful “Valley Isle” of Maui, Hawaii.

Living in a four seasons climate, it is difficult to describe the climate on this tropical isle, other than “typical”. Each day, with the exception of the wetter late winter months, we find the early morning sun rising slowly and gently over the South Maui mountains and the Big Island of Hawaii. In the early evening, it retires for the night as it sets over West Maui.

Between these two events? ……….Sunshine!…... And lot’s of it! Cooled by a dependable ocean breeze, a truly delightful day at Kihei begins with the launching of long outrigger canoes from the Kihei canoe club to the East, and excursion boats from Maalaea to the West. A cup of coffee, shorts and tank top, we are off for our morning stroll on the beach, which is just a stones toss away!
